IÐANDI / 2006

Name: "iðandi". The name means that something is moving with excitement and something that is alive.
Working title: Organic bench
Materials: Gray fiber-plastic vacuum-formed mainbody and chromed steel legs. Suitable for in- and
outdoors spacing.

The "iðandi" is a bench I designed in context with a stool I made from rubbish.
This bench has the organic form of an insect or a reptile, which is similar with the rubbish stool.
I wanted to design a chair or a bench that was both suitable for children and adults, and that's why it
hightens up from the lowest point to the highest. As a result you can lay down and stretch out your lims
when you're tired!
I also wanted it to adapt with its environment so it is hollow in the middle, and I think that's perfect for
planting a well matured tree to have a cozy spot in your garden. The chromed legs also reflect the
surroundings so that makes the body sort of float above the ground.
