ÁSTA / 2006
This ceiling rosette was designed in a course that is runned every year at the Academy in co-operation
with the National Museum and the Icelandic Academy of Arts.
While working on this project I was inspired from an old Icelandic sewing pattern called Öræfarósin,
(Arctic Highlandrose) oftenly seen in old pillows, mittens, table clothings and etc.
I wanted to put that pattern in an unusual perspective, taking it to a whole different level.
The pattern is extruded three dimensionally and changed in Rhino 3D, which gave it a more modern
and youthful look.
Ásta is supposed to be ideal for mordern homes, with its minimal but yet romantic look.
